Victorian Government’s initiative to promote energy saving alongside benefiting the environment has come a long way since inception in 2009. The scheme has made energy efficiency more affordable with subsidized plans and allowed commercial establishments like mine to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase employment in industries supplying greener high bays and LED lights under VEET scheme, which is now VEU.
From a New Commercial LED User
I run a shoes and accessories brick and mortar outlet in the Shire of Money. I had been paying over a AUS$1000 in electricity bills before I came across a friend who acquainted me with the benefits and support the Victorian Government was providing for commercial establishments to reduce their carbon footprint and save on power bills with LED lights under VEET.
It was matter of time before I got in touch with a local installation company that conducted my shop survey and provided with a subsidized estimate of what the entire overhaul of the lights would cost (it included LED lights for both the indoors and the outdoors).
In a week’s time after my go head, an A grade electrician had changed all the lights of the shop with LEDs – the globes and bulbs were all gone.
Since, I have realized, the LED are cost effective and energy efficient alternative to tradition shop lighting. My bills have reduced by up to 60 percent (there is no change in consumption) and interestingly, the lights are now VEET approved and I’m a responsible citizen.
LED outdoor flood light was installed along with the bulbs indoors. The light is much brighter, has a wider throw area yet it offers substantial cost saving since it reduces energy usage. The LED flood light under VEET has a longer life span which I’m guessing would mean lesser need for maintenance and replacement.
I’m enjoying the benefits of having switched to LED lights under VEET, though it’s still too early on my part, but I would recommend everyone to make the switch and save on their bills.
